James Cameron's Avatar collected the most nominations with 10 when the 36th Annual Saturn Awards nominees were announced on Feb 19th, and actually that wasn't much of a surprise. Avatar picked up nominations in, among other categories, the best film, best director and acting categories. Following closely behind are Sherlock Holmes, Inglourious Basterds, Watchmen, Star Trek, and District 9.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films non-profit organization, the group behind the annual awards, was created back in 1972 to "honor, recognize and promote genre entertainment." This year's awards will be handed out on June 24, 2010 and yes, that's a long to wait to find out who wins.
