Writer/director Oren Moverman, an Oscar nominee for his The Messenger screenplay, is getting a crack at finessing the script for the Kurt Cobain biopic that's in the works at Universal Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter says Moverman is in talks to work on David Benioff's script which draws from Charles R. Cross' Cobain biography, Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain.
If the deal goes through, Moverman will also direct the biopic of the Nirvana rocker who died at the age of 27. Cobain was found dead on April 8, 1994 in his Seattle home from what was ruled a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Cobain's widow Courtney Love, mother of Frances Bean Cobain, will executive produce the as-yet-untitled biopic with Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Graham Larson producing.
